This year, The Institute of Design, installed WiFi throughout the “campus”. I’m loving it. Being connected while in class allows me to access relevant information we may be discussing during a lecture or team meeting. It also allows me to use browser-based tools, or Thin Clients as Richard MacManus calls them, that I’ve always wanted to use. Still, though, there are some things that still live outside my browser. Oh well, I guess I still have to buy more RAM.
Tabs I have open
- SeeID , the schools Intranet to access any attachments the professor may be referring to
- My TaDa List to keep track of the things I have to da
- My Blog poised and ready for any inspirational ideas for a posts that may come up during a lecture
- My Bloglines just in case the lecture gets boring
Applications I have open
- iChat, you know for those synchronous conversations during the lecture
- iCal because I can’t find a suitable thin client replacement
- TextEdit to take notes with
- Mail.app because I hate all webmail interfaces
